AISI announces release of 2013 Annual Statistical Report

SPOKANE (Scrap Monster): The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) has released its 2013 Annual Statistical Report (2013 ASR). The report provides comprehensive statistical information about the US steel industry and selected data on Mexican, Canadian and world steel industry.

According to the report, the US steel production, shipment, export and import dropped during 2013 when compared with the previous year. The country’s raw steel production declined over 2% in 2013 to total 96 million net tons in 2013. The steel shipments too dropped nearly 1% over the previous year to 95 million net tons during the year.

According to AISI, the report provides extensive charts and graphs that paint a complete picture of the steel industry. ASR is considered as the most comprehensive reference of its kind for the American steel industry. The main contents of the report include Statistical and Financial highlights, Employment and Wage data, Shipment details of steel mill products by products and regions, Exports and Imports. The report also includes executive summary that highlights recent and historical trends in North American steel industry.
