Airtel Ghana partners with Akosombo to promote paper recycling efforts

SPOKANE (Scrap Monster): Airtel Ghana has joined hands with a local recycling company to collect and recycle the paper waste generated by its employees. As per the terms of the deal, Akosombo Paper Mill will collect the paper from Airtel offices and recycled them into specialty paper products at its facilities.

The new initiative is part of the ‘Make a Difference Day’ project by Airtel Ghana to encourage its employees to get them involved in community projects that promote environmental sustainability. The collaboration aims to provide significant boost to paper recycling efforts, thereby reducing the amount of paper ending up in landfills and other dumping yards.

The comprehensive recycling program presents the employees with a unique opportunity to be part of the wider initiative to promote recycling efforts within the community. The company would also promote the initiative among all the suppliers and vendors associated with it. The spokesperson of Akosombo Paper Mill commented that the association with Airtel Ghana would help to reinforce the position of paper as a uniquely sustainable product.

Meanwhile, Airtel Ghana called upon its employees not to generate more paper waste in order to support the initiative. On the other hand, the employees can print whenever necessary. Furthermore, they must ensure that all official waste paper goes as input to the recycling program.
