KAMPALA (Scrap Monster): According to the recent data published by the World Steel Association, the crude steel production by the African region declined by 1.5% during the month of October year-on-year.
Egypt produced 400,000 tonnes of crude steel, considerably lower by 19% when compared to 494,000 tonnes production achieved during October 2014. Libya’s crude steel output dropped to 15,000 tonnes during the month of October this year, when matched with 42,000 tonnes produced during the same month a year before. Morocco’s output plunged by 42% to 30,000 tonnes, when compared to 52,000 tonnes production achieved during October 2014. South Africa’s crude steel output increased considerably by 23.8% to 650,000 tonnes during the month when matched with the production figures of 525,000 tonnes during the same month a year before.
Egypt’s output has increased marginally when compared with 384,000 tonnes during September this year. Libyan crude steel output in October ‘15 too increased during the month. The country had not recorded production during Sep ’15. Morocco’s production jumped higher over the previous month. South African production increased by 25,000 tonnes when matched with the previous month.
