The American Forest and Paper Association (AF&PA) has released the paper production statistics for the month of July this year.

SPOKANE (Scrap Monster): The Washington D.C.-headquartered American Forest and Paper Association (AF&PA) has released the production statistics for the month of July this year.

According to the statistics, the containerboard production went higher by nearly 1.8% in July ’15 when compared with the production during the same month a year before. However, the average daily production of containerboard has dropped marginally by 0.2% over the previous month. The operating rate for containerboard dropped from 97.5% in June to 96.3% in July.

The total kraft paper shipments during July surged higher by nearly 9.4% over same month the previous year to 147.2 thousand short tons. Out of this, bleached kraft paper shipments constituted 8.60 thousand short tons whereas the balance 138.60 thousand short tons accounted for unbleached kraft paper shipments. The combined shipment for the initial seven-month period of the year was higher by 1% when compared with the corresponding seven-month period in 2014.

AF&PA notes that bleached paper kraft shipments decreased by over 21% over the previous month while unbleached paper craft shipments remained essentially flat in July ‘15. The month-end inventories increased to 77.4 thousand short tons in July ‘15.

The total shipment of printing-writing paper declined 8% in July this year. The July ‘15 coated free sheet (CFS) paper shipments dropped 12% when compared with the previous year. Uncoated free sheets (UFS) shipment dropped 2% during the month. Coated mechanical (CM) shipments during July ‘15 plunged lower by almost 18% when matched with the same month in 2014. Uncoated mechanical (CM) shipments during July ‘15 have reduced by 14% when matched with July 2014.

Meantime, the total boxboard production decreased 2.8% from those during July ’14. However, the production increased by 2.7% over June this year. The production of Recycled Boxboard remained flat when compared with July 2014, but increased when compared with June this year.
