The American Forest and Paper Association (AF&PA) has published the containerboard and kraft statistics for the month of June '15.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster):  The Washington D.C.-headquartered American Forest and Paper Association (AF&PA) has released production statistics for the month of June this year.

According to the statistics, the containerboard production went higher by 1.2% in June ’15 when compared with the production during the same month a year before. Also, the average daily production of containerboard has increased considerably by 2.9% over the previous month. The operating rate for containerboard increased marginally from 97.2% in May to 97.4% in June.

The total kraft paper shipments during June have increased by 5.8% over the previous year to 149.30 thousand short tons. Out of this, bleached kraft paper shipments constituted 10.90 thousand short tons whereas the balance 138.5 thousand short tons accounted for unbleached kraft paper shipments. The bleached kraft paper shipments had totaled 8.4 thousand short tons in May. Meantime, unbleached kraft paper shipments had totaled 131.5 thousand short tons in May this year.

The combined shipment for the initial six-month period of the year remained more or less flat when compared with the corresponding six-month period in 2014. The total month-end inventories reduced to 73.4 thousand short tons in June.
