SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The American Forest and Paper Association (AF&PA) has announced the winners of 2014 Sustainability Awards. Domtar and New Page Corp won two awards each. The seven awards were shared by five companies.The awards were presented at AF&PA’s annual meeting held on Nov 7th in Carefree, Arizona.
The Association had invited application from AF&PA member companies for two categories of Sustainability Awards. ‘Leadership’ category awards recognized projects that support progress toward the Better Practices, Better Planet 2020 sustainability goals. This has five subcategories.

The second category of Award named “Innovation in Sustainability” recognized projects that contributed to sustainable business practices, not one of the goals specifically. Domtar won the award in this category for its BioChoice Lignin- a bio-based alternative to the use of petroleum and other fossil fuels.
