AF&PA honors Iowa authority's efforts to boost paper recycling

RIVERDALE (Scrap Monster): The Des Moines, Iowa-based Metro Waste Authority has been awarded the 2014 Community Recycling Award for Partnerships by the American Forest & Paper Association (AF & PA). The award is in recognition of the efforts to boost paper recycling by efficiently partnering with other agencies. The prestigious award was presented during the board meeting of the Authority held recently.

Presenting the award to the authority, Machele Henderson, Plant GM, International Paper Recycling lauded the efforts under taken by the Authority to boost paper recycling by partnering with 21 cities in Polk County, the Carton Council, schools, libraries and various civic groups. He further added that such efforts have helped to spread the paper recycling message and improve the paper recycling rate significantly.

Reo Menning, Executive Director, Metro Waste Authority received the award on behalf of the Authority. He thanked AF&PA for the award and expressed the hope that the recycling efforts by the authority will inspire other communities across the country.

Established in 1969, Metro Waste Authority is an independent government agency that operates various waste reduction and recycling programs.
