2016 edition of ‘World Steel in Figures’ published

BRUSSELS (Scrap Monster):  The World Steel Association (worldsteel) has published the 2016 edition of ‘World Steel in Figures’. The yearly publication provides latest updates on the happenings in global steel industry along with key facts and figures for the year 2015.

According to the report, global economy is currently passing through a difficult phase as markets adjust to slower Chinese economic growth. The world crude steel production dropped nearly 3% from 1,670 million tonnes (Mt) in 2014 to 1,621 Mt in 2015. The Chinese share in global crude steel production dropped from 45.9% in 2014 to 44.8% in 2015. The concerns over excess capacity increased further during 2015. However, with development of new markets and emerging new applications of steel, the global steel industry is expected to register growth during forthcoming years.
