Family Fun Program

his year, ISRI offers a Family Fun ticket that welcomes holders to all events on Saturday, April 13, including speeches by Tom Brokaw and Dara Torres, workshop sessions, and our fabulous Final Night Gala at Universal Studios Orlando. Family Fun tickets can only be purchased by fully registered individuals and are intended for use by immediate family of the fully registered guest.

Distinguished Speaker

Tom Brokaw  Former Anchor and Managing Editor of NBC Nightly News As a television news correspondent, Tom Brokaw has won every major award in his craft, including Peabody, Duponts, Emmys, and lifetime achievement recognition. His career began with NBC News in Los Angeles where he covered Ronald Reagan’s first run for public office. He advanced from Los Angeles to Washington, DC where he served as NBC’s White House correspondent, then on to New York to serve as anchor of Today, and ultimately as anchor and managing editor of NBC Nightly News. Mr. Brokaw retired from the anchor desk following the 2004 elections, but has remained with NBC as a special correspondent while embarking on new endeavors in writing. His first book, The Greatest Generation, has become one of the most popular non-fiction books of the 21st century. Tom Brokaw speaks to ISRI during the Chair-Elect’s General Session on Saturday, April 13.

Gov. Ed Rendell (D-PA) and Gov. Haley Barbour (R-MS) Can a Democrat and a Republican safely share the same stage anymore? Has politics become such a battleground that there is no room for common ground? Haley Barbour and Ed Rendell have made careers of public service and politics. Both have served two terms as Governor of their state, both have served as Chair of a national political party, both can be seen as political commentators on major television networks, and both are committed to improving the future for our country and the world. Come to the Chair’s General Session on Thursday, April 11 to hear their perspectives on governing in our present political climate and for the future.

Dara Torres Twelve-time Olympic Medalist Dara Torres began swimming in international competitions at the age of 14. She competed in her first Olympic Games in 1984. At the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008, Dara became the oldest swimmer to compete in Olympic history. In total, Dara has competed in five Olympic Games and has won 12 medals in that career. Hear her story about continuing to stay competitive in a field half your age and about the importance of never giving up on your dream. Dara speaks in ISRI’s Just for Fun series at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, April 13.
