What is cast iron?

Cast iron is an alloy composed of iron and carbon, used primarily for casting in a mold.  Cast iron has a carbon content greater than 2%.

Cast iron scrap includes materials such as drain pipes, old bathtubs, motor blocks, and brake rotors.
